In the third picture there is how I sign my works, usually on the edge or behind the paintings.
Monogram is the theme of this week`s drawing challenge, thank you Patrice for an intriguing theme!
"monograms have been used as signatures by artists(!) and craftsmen on paintings, sculptures and pieces of furniture the theme for the 50th drawing challenge on Saturday February 25:
will you join?
* a design composed of one or more letters typically the initials of a name used as an identifying mark later a design or mark of two or more letters intertwined"
Monograms, texts and artists´ signatures
About traditions, mothers and daughters and texts in art work tell on the other hand this work of mine.
It is a ball dress of my mother for a prom, her mother has made it with care.
The painted texts/words on a dress are from the diaries or letters of my mother, me and my daughter.
The faces of us three at the same age of 17-20 years old, them I sew on the dress.
The name of the work is Like a virgin, see all of it here
My dear art teacher, Assi Madekivi, uses latin texts in her works of clay, such as the AD above.
In the next two pics there are the signatures of the other two artist ladies whose works I admire and am happy to have at home, see the works of the ladies:
Thank you, Nadine, for inviting me:)
See Nadine´s lovely blog Tiny Woolfand all the participants of this week.
Well, when thinking of butterflies I think about summer, sun and warmth.
And wings, symbolizing freedom and happiness: fluttering days of no worries..
These are my works or details of them, related to this theme and ideas.
Paintings are acrylic or oil on canvas.
The first picture is a detail of a mixed media piece, see here to see all of it.
The water photo below is from a tiny little romantic river.
There our son proposed his girl friend - and the answer was yes; now they are married:) .
The music is by my favorite a cappella group in Finland, Rajaton (= Boundless ).
14th of February, St Valentine's Day, is celebrated in Finland as
Ystävän Päivä (Friends' Day), and holds none of the romantic conotations
as it does in the UK and USA. It is simply a day to send cards to
friends, and to wish each other 'Happy Friends' Day'
Auringon tarkka piirto leikkaa esiin iän tuomat uurteet hetkeksi unohtuneisiin hedelmiin.
Memento mori, kaiken katoavaisuus, muistan sen. Ja memento vivere, muistan eläväni, ennen kaikkea.
Lace, made by my mother, long ago, remains me of snow of February as well as the forms and colors I made in clay.
In the end of the bed there is the horizon and we remember summer.
The brightness of the northern sun has no mercy on the forgotten fruits.;
memento mori, everything vanishes. And memento vivere, remember to live, I do.
